## Case study series for web3 publication
**Goal:** Publish a series of three (3) case studies about how web3 projects organize, coordinate, and execute work to be done in [NAME]
**Description:** As DAOs emerge as a new organizational unit for a burgeoning economy, there are important lessons to be learned from the ways in which they perform work among a decentralized community. Primitives like proposals, for example, are the universal expression of intent for high commitment, high-quality contribution in DAOs; they’re the building blocks of a digitally native organization, the same way that legal agreements and databases create the scaffolding of a traditional corporation. [NAME] has been an invaluable chronicle of this new economy. I’d like to do individual profiles of MediaDAO, InvestingDAO, and SoftwareDAO to understand and illustrate how they organize, coordinate, and execute work to be done.
**Why it matters:** The best way to educate people about web3 is to share applied knowledge through real-world examples.
**Background and why it should be funded:** I’m an experienced journalist who has written about web3 technology for outlets X, Y, and Z. I’ve already spoken with members of the three projects, who have agreed to participate in this series.
**Timeline:** Six weeks
**Milestone(s):** Draft delivery every two weeks
**Suggested funding:** $500 USDC per piece

## Contribute to an open source project
**Goal:** Secure a grant to contribute improvements to [NAMEDAO]’s open source protocol
**Description:** We propose making technical protocol improvements in two ways:
- An infrastructure tooling set
- An MVP for a new product
We’ll open source our work.
**Why it matters:** It’s important that the protocol both maintain its integrity and continually improve in order to support the dozens of projects that are being built atop it as well as future builders.
**Background and why it should be funded:** I lead a small team of developers who have built products atop [NAMEDAO]’s protocol. We’re excited by the possibilities that the protocol presents and the opportunity to contribute to its development.
**Timeline:** 8 weeks
**Milestone(s):** Weekly updates and report upon conclusion
**Suggested funding:** $5000 USDC

## Event for web3 community group
**Goal:** Host an in-person event for [NAME]
**Description:** [NAME] is an important personal and professional network for women in web3. Now over 250 members strong, the group has provided mentorship, career opportunities, a forum for advice, and new friendships. I propose that we host a day-long event for group members to meet, connect, and network in person. We’ll pick a city that’s accessible for the greatest number of people, and I’ll convene a small committee to program a day and half of panels, meals, and other social gatherings.
**Why it matters:** While Discord has been an invaluable tool for our group to easily onboard new members and connect, an IRL event is an invaluable opportunity to deepen those connections.
**Background and why it should be funded:** I’ve produced and managed events for both large companies and fast-growing startups, and I’ve seen the impact that gathering in person can have. I have industry connections in cities across the country, can negotiate group rates, and off-set costs with sponsors. In an informal poll of [NAME], multiple members have told me how they’d like to extend their involvement via an event.
**Timeline:** Three months
**Milestone(s):** Detailed project plan and budget allocation
**Suggested funding:** $5,000 USDC

## Apply for a partnership grant
**Goal:** Secure a partnership with Ms. Street Artist to bring [NAMEDAO]’s iconic IP to life in unique ways.
**Description:** A digital and IRL campaign featuring Ms. Street Artist x [NAMEDAO] comprising:
- Posters featuring Ms. Street Artists’s interpretation of [NAMEDAO]’s logo in New York and Berlin
- A projection of the image on a structure each within New York’s Central Park and Berlin’s Tiergarten
- A limited-edition NFT series
- A custom PFP for [NAMEDAO]’s members; Ms. Street Artist will change her PFP during the campaign as well.
**Why it matters:** Ms. Street Artist is ubiquitous in major European cities, but no one knows her true identity. Her art – which appears on buildings and street signs, in construction sites and alleyways – is immediately identifiable. The iconography is a perfect fit with that of [NAMEDAO] and with our mission to democratize the ownership of art.
**Background and why it should be funded:** This partnership would raise awareness for [NAMEDAO] and generate significant sales for the our treasury. With my own work with artists in the contemporary art world, I’m well positioned to execute it.
**Timeline:** Four weeks
**Milestone(s):** Specs delivered for review
**Suggested funding:** 25 ETH

If you want to take the pulse of a crypto project’s evolution, read its history of Improvement Proposals.
From L1 networks such as Bitcoin and Ethereum to application-focused protocols like Compound and Yearn, proposals are vehicles of debate, decision-making, and progress. Every proposal builds upon another. Networks of proposers, participants, and voters emerge as the new class of workers and leaders concretize the shape of a burgeoning economy.
Five months after the creation of the Ethereum Network in 2015, Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP-20) by Vitalik and Vogelsteller introduced the now-ubiquitous ERC-20 framework. It provided the basic functionality needed to transfer tokens and allow them to be approved so that another on-chain third party can spend them. This single standard gave rise to a new market that led to the 2017 ICO boom. A year later, as the founders of and participants in the network recognized the potential of on-chain assets, EIP-721 – which introduced ERC-721 alongside the developer interface that enables the tracking and transferring of NFTs – was created.

Proposals can literally make and move markets.
Fast forward a few years and there is a wide range of proposals emerging in DAOs and networks that impact protocol-level changes and beyond. People and organizations create proposals to elect new officials or make key hires; update the core parameters of a protocol, such as its liquidation mechanism; make large fiscal allocations for new initiatives, such as grants and education; and establish a community’s codes of conduct. We’re inspired by the proposals that have been made, and we’re excited to see even more.
Proposals aren’t a new concept by any means, but a profound medium that underpins the idea of democratic collaboration and participation. Under autocratic regimes, proposals – laws, articles, amendments, treaties – have no room to flourish. Yet they are crucial to the functioning of various forms of democracy. To propose means to suggest systematic improvements and new initiatives as a participant, as a citizen, and as a user.
Empowering proposal-making implies giving people the trust, agency, and resources required to become valuable contributors of a network.
From day one, Station has been committed to building products that transport a new class of workers to participate in the crypto economy. Proposals are a universal expression of intent for high-commitment, high-quality project. They are the building blocks of on-chain collaborations, the same way that legal agreements and databases form the relationships among corporations, shareholders, and employees.
We are not entirely content with proposals in their current form. Currently —
Request funding and support from DAOs: Find a clear pathway to implement your idea and be paid on time in native tokens or NFTs. Create an original proposal or submit an idea to an RFP.
Proposals lack agency and participation: proposals lack participation due to high barriers of entry and fragmented information across platforms.
Proposals lack provenance: completing a piece of work doesn’t accrue to one’s reputation and contribution history.
Proposals are single-player: proposal tools are designed for a single author when in reality proposal is usually a team effort.
By streamlining project proposal creation, curation, and on-chain execution, we set out to empower the best ideas and projects to be allocated the attention, resources, and talent to come to fruition.
